On March 12, 2021, the Ministry of Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan announced a competition for program-targeted funding for scientific, scientific, and technical programs for 2021-2023.
The competition is aimed at implementing the Messages of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the people of Kazakhstan, the Strategy “Kazakhstan-2050”, the State Program for the Development of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2020-2025, and other strategic and program documents.
The purpose of the competition is to solve strategically important state tasks through the implementation of scientific, scientific and technical programs.
Institute of Economics CS MES RK took part in the competition on the priority “Research in the field of social sciences and humanities” according to technical task No. 29.
By the decision of the National Scientific Council on July 15-16, 2021 BR10965247 program “Study of factors, features and dynamics of demographic processes, migration, urbanization in Kazakhstan, development of digital maps and forecasts” was approved for funding with a total score of 45,48 (VNTC decision No. 10 of August 10, 2021).
Supervisor of the program is Doctor of Economics Alzhanova Farida Gazizovna.
The implementation period of the program from August 2021 to December 2023.
The purpose of the program is a comprehensive study of the current demographic situation in Kazakhstan, forecasting its further development, developing recommendations for the successful implementation of a long-term policy of people saving.
- The study of the demographic structure of the population and its changes taking into account all demographic phenomena, determining the scale and intensity of demographic processes in the country and by region.
- The study of the peculiarities of the functioning of the demographic system under the influence of various factors (political and legal; political and economic; socio-cultural; natural and environmental factors; historical and geographical factors; urbanization, COVID 19 pandemic).
- Preparation of medium- and long-term forecasts of the development of demographic processes in Kazakhstan and by region.
- The study of the structure, dynamics, quality of internal and external migration flows, the scale, socio-political, socio-cultural risks of migration, the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic on migration processes in Kazakhstan.
- Research of factors, rates, intensity, quality of urbanization and development of the urban system in Kazakhstan, analysis of the main challenges and risks of urbanization, demographic and migration profile of cities in Kazakhstan, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on urban development, and urbanization dynamics.
- Conducting a demographic audit of state programs, assessing their impact on the intensity of demographic processes, identifying risks and opportunities for the implementation of demographic policy in Kazakhstan.
- The study of the political and legal basis for regulating demographic and migration processes in Kazakhstan and abroad, the development of effective measures to prevent negative, and the fullest use of the positive scenario.
Direct results according to the terms of reference:
- New conceptual knowledge about the level of studying demographic processes in world science and the implementation of modern methods for the study of trends in demographic development of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Systematization of demographic indicators and their comparison with the target parameters of programs for demographic development of Kazakhstan;
- Map of demographic development of Kazakhstan as a whole and also in the territorial context;
- Improvement of methods and algorithms for modeling and forecasting the demographic situation to develop measures of state regulation and timely response to challenges and problems.
